Dr. Bakre has done MD in Psychiatry and Diploma in psychological medicines. He served in public services in different capacities as administrator, coordinator, academician, advisor and expert on issues related to mental health at state and national level. He has been closely associated with development sector working on mental health issues. He played pioneer role in design and establishment of Mental Health Program of Government of Gujarat and was appointed as Honorary Psychiatrist of Governor of Gujarat. He lead various innovative concepts in disability sector such as half way home, Community based rehabilitation, indoor and day care of patients with mental illness etc. He has represented state government initiatives to World Health Organization as well. Dr. Bakre has 15 years of varied experience in disability sector and is expert specifically in mental health program design, training and research.
